Programs Media
The goals of the Media Program are:
- To enhance informed public debate on EU topics and contribute to the promotion of EU values;
- To ensure media coverage of EU-accession issues, elections, and name dispute with Greece and NATO
- To monitor and advocate for the development of an appropriate legal and regulatory framework for media and to monitor its implementation according to international standards including the establishment of appropriate regulatory bodies
- To sustain Media Development Center for delivering free of charge legal aid to journalists and to act as watchdog and advisor for disputable issues on media legislation and policies
- To increase media literacy among NGO activists, high school and undergraduate students
TV Co-production EUROPE NOW
The serial of monthly talk-shows dedicated to the EU integration processes will be produced in cooperation with the nation-wide TV station. Media Program will co-fund the production costs and will offer expertise on EU (structures, policies, think-thank institutions) from national and international partners.

Journalists Fellows on EU
The aim of the project is to enhance media capacities in covering the EU-accession issues through providing skilled journalists with EU knowledge to the media. Short-term trainings on EU issues will be delivered to young journalists. Once trained, they will be sent to work as fellow-reporters in the main nation-wide media to cover EU topics. The project will be implemented in partnership with the Macedonian Center for European Training (MCET)
Budget: 39.400 EUR
Briefings for Journalists on EU
The serial of meetings with editors covering foreign policy in nation-wide media will be organized offering them clarifications and briefings on EU policies and positions regarding the EU, Macedonia and the Western Balkan countries in general. If necessary experts from international think-thank institutions will be invited at the meetings. The project will be implemented in partnership with the Macedonian Center for European Training (MCET).
Budget: 5.000 EUR
Advocacy and Monitoring of the Legislation/Policy Implementation
Project activities will be dedicated to ensure that changes of the media and electronic communication legislation will be in line with the European legal framework, in disabling the possibilities for economic censorship, and enabling the development of national media production.
The main priority of this project is to advocate for improved changes of the current Broadcasting Law in digital age and its implementation as well as the implementation of the mid-term Action Plan of the Strategy document. The project will be implemented in partnership with Media Development Center as a common effort of several donors: Swedish Helsinki Committee, Norwegian People’s Aid, and Network Media Program – London.

Non-formal Education for Youth and NGOs on Media Literacy
The aim of the project is to increase the knowledge among youth and NGO activists for: Macedonian media landscape, how to identify propaganda and political marketing, to develop a critical approach towards available information, to acquire skills for analysing the media content offer and to use new media technologies to publicize their media analysis. The project will be implemented in partnership with NGO Infocenter.
Budget: 15.000 EUR
Media Content Monitoring - Media Mirror
The project will present a clear picture on the professional standards and criteria that media use to cover and interpret election campaigns and the actions of the political actors within their informative programs. Additional focus of the monitoring will be the manner of interpretation of EU issues in the media on the basis of the information and briefings received by of public institutions, political parties, international politicians and experts.
